On Saturday night we attempted to go see Zoo Lights. Well, the zoo parking lot was full so we had to follow traffic two miles up the road and park at a medical clinic. We bundled ourselves up and then had to wait in line to get on a school bus to take us back to the zoo entrance. The line was very long and we started to do the math. It was already 6:15 pm, we were going to be in line for 40 more minutes, then there would be traffic by the zoo so it would take us 15 minutes to get to the entrace, and the final leg would be waiting in line (for 25 minutes) again to buying our tickets to get in. All in all we wouldn't be able to see the lights until about 7:30, also known as the girls bedtime. So we made the painful decision to get out of line and go home. Amid the tears and tantrums we made it out.
So we set the date and we made it there from Family Home Evening tonight.
There were no traffic lines, we parked 30 feet from the entrance and got our tickets in a timely manner. To make it even better we went with our friends Dave, Katie and their two girls Sam and Taylor.
Addie, Sammy, & Bailey all bundled up and ready to see the lights.
There were so excited to meet Rudolph. It's one of their favorite Christmas songs.
Our guides used their maps to tell us which way to go.
Addie got some love from an elephant.
My favorite part was the concert field. There was a river full of alligators (green) and hippopotamus' (red). The elephants in the background sprayed water and they even had a bird in flight. We love the Zoo lights and can't wait to see them again next year!
Hopefully we'll remember to go on a weekday next time.
